The interface was outdated, navigation existed in multiple locations, and key features were difficult to use.

A usability study was conducted with users to prioritize areas of pain. Findings included report filtering feeling overwhelming and having too many filters at once. The navigation was described as "all over the place" and "redundant".

How might we reduce cognitive load for site navigation?

I conducted an open card sort with 15 participants to understand how users organized information. A dendrogram analysis was performed and the result was a simplified navigation per user role.

Working alongside the development team, we identified UI patterns and components using atomic design principles.

Helped to establish and maintain the UX Style Guide.

After the application was redesigned, key user workflows were validated with endusers, administrators, and operators.
